A Prayer For Christians In Conflict

Jesus calls us so often to self responsibility. He doesn’t ask us to judge hearts, to direct blame, to tell each other off in the public square.

But we are all humans and those things seem to be, somehow, a part of our default operating settings: something to overcome.

In Christ, we are all overcomers, for certain.

I see the conflicts among believes and then more and more spider webs of conflicts off the handling of these disputes lately.

The Lord’s good plans will not be flaunted by a divided people, but He certainly won’t be able to use US at THIS TIME if we lose our focus on doing His will and instead enter into conflict and competition with each other.

Focus on the Lord, and for the times you can’t, review these Biblical Principles of Conflict Resolution.

They are, in short:

Speak first to each other in private. If that doesn’t help, keep disagreements among the church. If that isn’t possible, let it go and move on separately.

Start humbly, let anger and slander and clamor fall away, be forgiving as Christ forgave us.

Be a peacemaker.

Check your own inner desires, for this is surely starting the trouble.

There is so much more and that link is so helpful as it is just Biblical verses pulled topically, no commentary.

Lord,

Help us today in our humanity, as a community of believers, may we humble ourselves and pray for resolution to the world’s problems, instead of starting more among ourselves.

You’ve given us such an intricate and complete guidebook to the problems of this world, Lord, and the Spirit to guide us besides.

How can we keep ignoring it all to stay stubbornly in conflict?

Bring us out of our own egos and fallacies, Lord, and help us focus on working for Your purposes instead.

In Jesus’ Holy Name, Amen
